Closing symposium in Dushanbe

Today, the PAMIR team met in Dushanbe to officially marke its successful conclusion at a symposium hosted by the Swiss Cooperation  Office in Tajikistan. The international and local research teams unveiling a suite of scientific accomplishments that together build a new baseline to understanding of the functioning of the Pamir mountain system, and projecting its changes.

Now, as Tajikistan leads the UN’s “Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences,” the PAMIR project’s results will be integrated into national plans, and will inform international initiatives. The symposium opened the door to next research efforts and collaborations with Tajik governmental agencies, ensuring that the scientific momentum continues through the next decade of climate adaptation.
